Why doesn’t the World Mission Society Church of God celebrate Christmas?

Recently I met a woman who claimed, “Why doesn’t your church keep Christmas? Your church must be a cult because it does not celebrate Christmas.” Actually, most people, whether they are believers or nonbelievers, consider Christmas as an important day. Many people prepare special events on this day. They think that Jesus was born on December 25th and celebrate Christmas as a special day.

But, what if Jesus was not born on December 25th? Moreover, what if December 25th was a day for celebrating the birth of a pagan god?

CHRISTMAS, WHICH TAKES ITS NAME from Christ’s Mass, was first celebrated on various dates from about 200 A.D. but was finally set on December 25 by Bishop Liberus of Rome in 354 A.D. The December date, which almost coincides with the winter solstice (saturnalia), became a popular festival of West Europe during the Middle Ages. But as late as the nineteenth century, Christmas celebration was suppressed in Scotland and New England because of some religious differences.

The history reveals that Christmas was officially adopted in 354 A.D. It’s long after Jesus’ Ascension.

Then, is it acceptable to celebrate Christmas which originated from a pagan festival? The Bible warns us not to add to or take away from the words of God (Revelation 22:18-19.) We must learn from Jeroboam who worshiped idols by designating a festival as he pleased. He made golden calves by saying “Here are your gods” and celebrated a day of his own choosing as the festival of God.

After seeking advice, the king [King Jeroboam] made two golden calves. He said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”… On the fifteenth day of the eighth month, a month of his own choosing, he offered sacrifices on the altar he had built at Bethel. So he instituted the festival for the Israelites and went up to the altar to make offerings. (1 Kings 12:28-33)

Was God pleased with Jeroboam? (No.) Those who celebrate Christmas commit the same mistake. Christmas is not God’s feast, but a mere man-made one. We cannot get salvation with man-made festivals such as Christmas, Easter and Sunday (Matthew 15:7-9.) Instead, we should keep the Passover by following the word of God. The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) does not celebrate Christmas because it’s not God’s feast. The Church of God obeys the New Covenant including the Passover by following the teachings of Jesus.

What do we, sinners, need most to be saved? We need the forgiveness of sins to get salvation and to enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus allowed us the forgiveness of sins through the Passover wine. The Passover contains the promise of the forgiveness of sins promised by Jesus:

This [The Passover wine] is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:28)

Is Ahnsahnghong really the Holy Spirit? (The World Mission Society Church of God)

What will be the greatest good news for mankind who are destined to die? It’ll be the news of the forgiveness of sins. Then, who has the authority to forgive sins? Only God does. So, an angel expressed the birth of Jesus as “good news of great joy” (Luke 2:8-10.) Jesus came to the earth to bring salvation although He was Almighty God according to the Trinity (please refer to this page for the true meaning of the Trinity.) He established the new covenant for the forgiveness of sins.

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover… This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:17-28)

And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer… In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. (Luke 22:15-20)

Jesus made the new covenant in his blood. The Apostle Paul said that it’s the eternal covenant (Hebrews 13:20.) The Passover of the new covenant is the feast which should be celebrated until the end of the worlds (1 Corinthians 11:23-26.) However, the Passover was abolished in 325 AD and the way to salvation was destroyed by Satan. So, it’s prophesied that Christ would appear a second time to bring salvation by restoring the new covenant:

So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:28)

Then, what should the Second Coming Christ bring us to bring salvation? What is a sign of the Second Coming Christ? He should bring the Passover of the new covenant which has disappeared during the Dark Ages. Who has brought us the Passover in these days? Christ Ahnsahnghong restored the new covenant for our salvation. (No one except Christ Ahnsahnghong revealed the Passover of the new covenant for more than 1,600 years!) Christ Ahnsahnghong fulfilled all prophecies about the Second Coming Christ including the parable of the fig tree, the prophecy of King David and the order of Melchizedek.

Jesus said, “baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” before His Ascension. This means there are the name of the Father, the name of the Son and the name of the Holy Spirit. Have you heard about the name of the Holy Spirit? Someone might say that it’s “Holy Spirit” or “Counselor.” However, both “Holy Spirit” and “Counselor” are titles like the Father and the Son. What does it mean that there is the name of the Holy Spirit? It means that there is another age after the age of the Son. For this reason, the Bible says that there is the new name of Jesus (Revelation 3:12; 2:17.) The new name of Jesus is the name of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, the Bible prophesies that the Holy Spirit or the Second Coming Christ appears to give us the water of life in the last days.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!”…  let him take the free gift of the water of life. (Revelation 22:17)

Without meeting the Holy Spirit, we cannot get salvation. The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) believes in Christ Ahnsahnghong as the Savior of the Holy Spirit because the entire books of the Bible testify about Him. Today, most Christians think that the world will be ended when Christ comes again. Most churches made doctrines based on such idea that the Second Coming and the final judgment will take place at the same time. However, it’s differently written in the Bible.

At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:27-28)

Does it say that the world will be judged and ended when Jesus comes in a cloud? (No.) It says, “Stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” What if the clouds with which Jesus comes are not the natural clouds of the sky? People who think Jesus will come in a cloud will not be able to receive Him and will not be saved. The word “clouds” with which Jesus comes is a parable and means the flesh. We can know this by studying the First Coming Jesus. It’s prophesied that the First Coming Christ was also to come with the clouds of heaven.

“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him… (Daniel 7:13-14)

Some claim that it’s a prophecy about the Second Coming of Jesus. However, it’s obvious that it’s a prophecy about the First Coming Christ because Jesus Himself was given authority (Matthew 28:18), glory (John 17:10) and sovereign power (Luke 22:29.) But, did Jesus really come with the natural clouds of heaven? (No, He didn’t.) He was born as a man. Therefore, the clouds with which Jesus comes are a Biblical expression: to come with the clouds of heaven means to come in the flesh. (Please refer to this page “Cloud and Flesh” for this topic.)

2,000 years ago, the Jews were waiting for their Messiah coming with the clouds of heaven. But, Jesus was teaching in their synagogues before they knew it. They failed to receive Christ by looking up the sky. Surprisingly, the same history repeats today. Most Christians are looking at the clouds of the sky to meet Christ. However, the Second Coming Christ has already come in the flesh before they knew it. Then, why is He supposed to come in the flesh before the final judgment? It’s because the truth of the new covenant established by Jesus disappeared during the Dark Ages.

I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man [the Second Coming Jesus] comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8)

The phrase “Will he find faith on the earth?” means “He cannot find any faith on the earth.” All Christians think they have faith, but they have no faith in the eyes of God. Jesus established the Passover of the New Covenant by saying “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover” (Luke 22:15.) However, most Christians say that they do not want to keep it. Instead, they keep Christmas which originated from a pagan festival for celebrating the birth of sun-god. And Jesus observed the Sabbath day, as was his custom (Luke 4:16) and the disciples including the Apostle Paul also kept the Sabbath day by following the example of Jesus (Acts 17:2; 18:4.) But, most churches worship on Sunday, the day of Sun. Sunday and Christmas are man-made rules, which cannot lead us to the kingdom of heaven. For this reason, it’s prophesied that Christ would appear a second time to bring salvation (Heb 9:27-28). Therefore, we cannot get salvation without meeting and receiving the Second Coming Christ who comes in the flesh in this age. Christ Ahnsahnghong restored the new covenant including the Passover and the Sabbath day for our salvation. Today, no churches but the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) observe the New Covenant established by Jesus and restored by Christ Ahnsahnghong. David in the last days

The Bible contains a serious of mysteries which are hard to understand in the eyes of humans. God said, “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge of God” (Hosea 4:2; 4:6.) Really, many people believe in God, but most do not have correct knowledge of God. The Apostle Paul said that the mystery of God is Christ (Colossians 2:2.) All Christians (and even non-believers) might say that they know Christ. But, why did Paul say that the mystery of God is Christ? It’s because Christ is to come in the flesh. The prophet Hosea prophesied that we should seek King David to receive blessings in the last days.

Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the LORD and to his blessings in the last days. (Hosea 3:5)

Since the book of Hosea was written about 250 years after David’s death, David in Hosea 3:5 is not the physical David, the 2nd king of Judah, but the spiritual David who is to appear in the last days.

Why is the spiritual David to come?

Then, why is the spiritual David to come in the last days? It’s because the truth of the new covenant made by Jesus disappeared during the Dark Ages. Jesus established the Passover of the New Covenant for the forgiveness of sins.

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover… While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this [the Passover bread] is my body.” Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This [The Passover wine] is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. (Matthew 26:17-28)

Jesus declared the Passover as the New Covenant in His blood (Luke 22:20.) He even said, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you” (Luke 22:15.) We can understand how important the Passover is. However, the Passover was abolished in 325 AD and the way to the kingdom of heaven disappeared since then. So, the Apostle John wept and wept to know that the truth of the new covenant would be destroyed.

Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides [the Bible] and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He [The Root of David] is able to open the scroll [the Bible] and its seven seals.” (Revelation 5:1-5)

Since the Bible has been sealed and no one except the Root David is able to open the Bible, we should seek the spiritual David in the last days. The Root David who will appear in the last days is the Second Coming Jesus (Revelation 22:16.)

Christ Ahnsahnghong who restored Zion with the feasts of the new Covenant

Today, all churches keep man-made teachings such as Sunday, Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving Day. It’s because the truth of the new covenant disappeared by Satan according to the prophecy of the prophet Daniel.

He [Satan] will speak against the Most High [God] and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time. (Daniel 7:25)

According to the prophecy, the law of God had changed one by one. The Sabbath day was changed to Sunday Service. The Passover was abolished. Instead, all Christians keep Christmas which originated from a pagan festival to celebrate the birth of sun-god. In other words, the way to the kingdom of heaven disappeared. So, the Root of David is to come to open the secrets of the Bible. According to the prophecy, Christ Ahnsahnghong came and restored the new covenant. He is the spiritual David and the Second Coming Christ who fulfilled all prophecies of the Bible including the prophecy of David’s throne.

Christ Ahnsahnghong foretold that He would pass away 4 years before His death in an interview with the Weekly Religion Newspaper on March 18, 1981. Who can know when he would die? Christ Ahnsahnghong came to the earth according to the Bible and ascended to heaven according to the Bible.
